Whitley Bay Home Re-design

Introduction

After 20 years of living and working in the Middle East, our clients returned to the UK and purchased a modern four-bedroom home in Whitley Bay.
Having remodelled the ground floor to create an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, they wanted help transforming their newly renovated house into a home that reflected their personalities, experiences and travels.
Our brief was to bring warmth, character and individuality to the interiors, combining contemporary design with an eclectic mix of materials, textures and subtle Eastern influences.

“We have been very happy with the clear process and roadmap for our project. The initial consultation took into account our lifestyle and likes, with Rebecca coming up with ideas and solutions that we would not have considered on our own. ”

Before & after

The Design

With the structural work complete, our clients faced the challenge of bringing together their many ideas into a cohesive interior scheme, while continuing to work overseas.
We developed a layered design that balances contemporary styling with rich natural materials and carefully considered bespoke elements.
Walnut, oak and leather introduce warmth, while vibrant fabrics, custom rugs and distinctive lighting bring colour and personality to the open-plan space.
A feature brick wall and sliding barn door add architectural character, complemented by bespoke fitted joinery, shelving and storage designed around the family’s lifestyle.
Layered lighting, including recessed downlights, wall lights, table lamps and a statement pendant, allows the space to transition effortlessly from everyday family living to relaxed evening entertaining.

The Personal Touches

The most successful interiors tell the stories of the people who live in them.
For this project, we incorporated meaningful pieces that celebrate our clients’ family and travels. A delicate pen drawing of their beloved cocker spaniel sits alongside baby elephant sculptures, treasured mementoes from a visit to an elephant orphanage.
Even the television becomes part of the interior scheme, displaying artwork by Monet, one of the clients’ favourite artists, when not in use.
These personal touches, combined with unexpected design details and carefully selected finishes, have created a welcoming, individual home.
